arguments for and against contemporary media regulations

Against media regulations
different technologies are useful for specific things such as mobile phones being used to spread important news world wide, Morzovs theory also supports this idea because he suggests that millions of people world wide  earn money that they live on  due to the social networking websites such as blogs which allow organisations to control and support particular cases. This helps us gain information from across the globe and also makes us aware on updates in society.
Another point that supports the argument against media regulations would be the fact that people are able to comment and give their views and opinions on almost everything that the media industry provides for example you tube videos are self regulated which allows people to share and comment on things . Henry Jenkins believes that freedom of speech allows people to express themselves in any way they feel either negatively or positively where it can be used to improve something someone does. Public opinions can help to improve things such as facebook and other websites when asked to give feedback this makes the internet more enjoyable for the public as they have a say in what they want and how they want it.

For Media Regulations
In the past there has been no need for the input of regulations in the media industry due to the lack of technology and ways of accessing inoformation across the globe but contemporary media has reached to a point where information can be accessed almost on every piece of technology there is which makes it harder to regulate . sherry Turkle suggests that technology changes what we do and how we think which leads to millions of people missusing the internet and causes manipulation of others identity.
Another reason that supports the argument FOR media regulations will be the fact that due to the public being able to do what they please as they please it makes the more valueable things seem worthless as "everybody is a producer" - Andrew Keen. for example there are people that create pieces of art and display and give it away for free which means that true talented people are harder to notice therefore the internet should be regulated more and not allow anyone and everyone to produce whatever they please. The freedom of speech can be offencive in many ways which break ethical guidlines to the human rights for example on youtube Rebecca black was seen as one of the worst artists the public had ever seen due to the amount of dislikes and negative comments that the public have given such as threats , this has caused her to feel unsafe in the public eye due to the harm and distress the public have given her.
